The blog name:
Photo Phreak – that is me, I’ve been reading and viewing photos since I was a teenager. I’ve created my own photos since 1999. Here I present my “Phindings”, my personal views and links to other’s that seemingly have the same views – or information that I find interesting.

The login and email name: hearkane, (e.g. www.flickr.com/arkane )
Can be thought of as hear Kane (Rosebud!) or he‘s arkane but actually is a slight reorder of my initials with all the second-characters added.

The blog contents: will most likely come to be a high number of photography oriented posts, but – as my interests are very varied – other things might appear too.

My name: is Hannu E. K. Nevalainen and I live in a town that is a tiny tourist trap – just slightly south and west from Stockholm, Sweden… the distance is just about one hours drive on the highway.

My occupation: I work with quality related issues on a company that produces a great number of devices per year (in a load of variants). The device is used for speed, position and angle measuring in a broad spectre of products by our customers. My work involves mechanics, optics, software and electronics in an intricate combination.

My hobbies: has been within; Filately, book reading, music listening, motors (cars) and related mechanics, computer programming, some electronics, trekking by bike, table tennis, badminton, squash…

I’ve also been interested in photography since the early teens – that is; more than thirtyfive years.

I currently own a Nikon D300 and a fairly complete set of lenses that match it well – for my uses (I’m not a pro, but been on it for ages, read the camera history below).

The camera history:
Ricoh RDC-5000 (dpreview/2000) – owned and in use aug 1999 to nov 2003.
It had one Smartmedia card slot. I had 8+32MB, enough for large amounts of pictures.
The first few images here were taken using this camera.

Konica Minolta Dimage Z1 (dpreview/2003) dec 2003 to jun 2007.
SD-cards (not SDHC). I used several, 2 GB on top.
The next few images here were taken using this camera.

Nikon D40x (dpreview/2007) jun 2007 to dec 2008.
I used two 4 GB Sandisk SD cards (Extreme III and IV).

Nikon D300 (dpreview/2008) dec 2008+.
CF-cards. 8 GB 300x or 45MB/s – allows about 400 NEF 12bit images (my usual setting).

+ Trials: Sigma 10-20/3.5-5.6 HSM
